Tamil Padam Movie Review, Tamil Padam Review, tamizh padam review

Tamil Padam Movie Review, Tamil Padam Review, tamizh padam review

Cast: Siva, Disha Pandey, M S Baskar, Vennira Aadai Moorthy, Manobala
Direction: C S Amudhan
Production: Dayanidhi Alagiri
Music: Kannan
First of all, a big round of applause for the director for introducing a new genre in Tamil film industry. Holly wood had it since long with movies like Hot Shots Naked Gun or Scary Movie series and Tamil television has beaten it to death. But a full length spoof running for more than two hours on big screen is really difficult to make considering the sensitivity of the industry people. Even Bollywood hasn’t tried a full fledged parody yet.Thamizh Padam has done it nicely without hurting the sentiments or feelings of any body. Though only regular movie goers will identify every spoof still they will enjoy it even if it is of their favourite heroes . Director Amudhan has walked the tight rope very effectively. The film starts with a mother giving birth to a child – our hero Shiva - on a rainy night in a typical village which detests male babies being born in the village. The ‘Nattamai’ of the village had already passed a decree to kill any male child born to any body in the village for a peculiar reason. The male children don’t stay in the village when they grow up. So the father asks his mother-Paravai Muniamma-to kill the baby. When the old lady is about to feed the baby with branded cactus milk in tetra pack the infant pleads with the grand mother to put him in a goods train so that he can reach the city and become a big man. Why a goods train? Because the infant knew all goods train leaving a village is destined to reach Chennai city.Touched by the aspiration of the infant the old lady takes the baby herself to Chennai to help him achieve his dream. In Chennai Shiva grows at the spin of a cycle wheel up and spends time with his college going friends Nakul, Siddharth and Bharath – MS Bhaskar,Manobala and Vennira Aadai Murthy. Shiva who appears to be a spoiled child actually is an undercover cop like Pokkiri Vijay. He eliminates the city rowdies like Thirupachi Vijay using techniques of Ghajini Suriya, Anniyan Vikram and Apoorva SahodarargalKamal Haasan .Meanwhile on the other side of his life Shiva sees Disha like Kadhalukku Mariyadhai Vijay and love strikes like Mozhi Prithviraj. Shiva expresses his love to her like Maounaragam Karthik. But Disha’s father doesn’t approve their love because Shiva is poor and doesn’t know who his father is. Humiliated Shiva decides to become rich and find his father in the village. He becomes rich in a jiffy like Annamalai Rajini and Sivaji Rajini. The love finally succeeds. Then in search of his father Shiva lands in his ancestral village Cinemapatti like WinnerPrashanth . Its a village where couples go to bed only when Vaidegi Kathirunthal Vijaykanth starts singing ‘Netru rathiri yamma’ at night. He searches his long lost father in the neighbouring villages Serialpatti and Thangachipatti nad Sentimentpatti in vain. Finally with very little help Shiva finds about his father from one of his associates. The associate gives him a CD of his family song which incidentally is the ‘Michael Learns To Rock’ number, ‘Someday someway’. Armed by the CD Shiva croons the song in public and he is united with his parents and sister. Now back to the city. Shiva is entrusted with the tough job of finding the main switch of the rowdy gang called ‘D’ gang Chidambara Rahasiyam Delhi Ganesh . The thrilling, breathtaking tasks he undertakes to accomplish his mission and the real identity of the dreaded underworld boss of the ‘D’ gang in the climax sequences are going to be the shockers. When you see the film please don’t reveal the climax to others. When you enter the theatre knowing the film is a spoof you don’t expect anything logical. The movie has followed every rule of a parody. It has sarcasm, typecast, making fun of scenes from serious movies, violence with no major consequences, obvious references to actions or names, lampooning with no purpose, casual scenes with many layers etc.Shiva, introduced as Chandramukhi Rajini plays his part to his known character. His timing and dialogue delivery sets him apart. The rip offs from Thalapathy, Kakkha Kakkha, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu and many more don’t fail to tickle you. Shiva over shadows all other characters just like that with his witty presence in every frame.Music by Kannan is another fine element in the film. The cryptic ‘O Maha Zeeya’ is very watchable on screen. Other songs also match the mood and genre.Director CS Amudhan is welcomed with open arms. He has revealed that there are still some facets of cinema still unknown to many. A brave new attempt for which there will be many followers in the future. What works: Shiva & complete star-casts, screenplay, cinematography. What doesn’t work: Songs, Editing, few shots of direct spoof on actors.

Goa Film Review | Goa Movie Review | Goa tamil movie

Goa Film Review | Goa Movie Review | Goa Tamil movie

Banner: Orcher StudiosProduction: Soundarya Rajnikanth

Star - Casts: Jai, Vaibhav, Premji, Sampath Raj, Aravind, Sneha , Piyaa, Prasanna, Simbhu and Nayanthara…

Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja

Direction: Venkat Prabhu

First let’s take off with the film ’s verdict that should probably save your time from reading this review itself. Of course, we believe reading this complete review is itself a waste of time if you have already booked the tickets. But for those, who haven’t, there’s a big chance to escape from this annoying Venkat Prabhu holiday . This isn’t a Holiday actually, but a pestiferous show filled with lethargic moments.‘Goa ’ – it really makes us doubt whether Venkat Prabhu has really shot the film over there. Naturally, most of the sequences look to be canned on ECR beaches. Pulling in bikini babes and projecting couple of montages doesn’t mean that it’s Goa.Did Soundarya Rajnikanth listen to the script completely before signing Venkat Prabhu? If not, she’s not worth producing any films in future and if she had heard the tale, it isn’t a right choice. Enna Koduma Sir ithu??? (Premji Style)The film revolves around three friends Ramarajan (Jai), Swamikannu (Premji Amaran ) and Vinayagam (Vaibhav) are always boisterous troublemakers in their village. When they’re unable to bear the pudden-headed traditions curbing down their freedom , they get in escapade drama and find themselves in Madurai attending their friend’s marriage. And these guys are extremely surprised to see his below-average looking guy marrying a stunningly beautiful foreign girl. Now, they draw a simple conclusion, fly down to Goa, marry a foreign girl and get settled in a different country to enjoy lavish lifestyle. But as they land in Goa, it’s a different situation for these boys as they encounter unexpected things after falling in love with girls.Venkat Prabhu seems to be inspired from various films including American Pie, Dostana and more.Portraying Sampath and Aravind as gay couples is unasked trouble that Venkat Prabhu bargains for. Our audiences haven’t grown up yet and he should have better studied audiences’ psychology as the B and frontbenchers yell him at bad words for showcasing such factors. The first half is completely disappointing with unwanted elements and by the intermission point; you’ll run out of theatres. But when as the film proceeds towards second half, there are some interesting moments which don’t help in anyway. It really takes a long time to establish the story and Venkat Prabhu seems to be more confused over drawing so many things within last 40mins. Guest appearance of Prasanna, Nayanthara and Silambarasan are worthy appreciable, but the time these characters come up with presence, it’s too late as audiences tired with irksome screenplay.Premji Amaran dominated the complete film as he gets more footage when compared to other star-casts. Vaibhav vanishes for a very long time and finally finds a specific place during second half, which is completely disappointing and Jai (Even his Paint does not Stay in his hips) doesn’t get more into hilarious moments. But his English dialogues with Vaibhav as ‘Come Towel, Go Towel’ are mind-boggling one liner. Sneha can better start performing aunty roles as she tries a lot to spot herself younger. Jessica simply mesmerizes us with her simple yet alluring looks. Piyaa looksgood and fits the role as a Goa girl while Sampath shaded with gayety is worth mentioning and Aravind looks stunning with six pack.Though the actors have done a great job with their specified roles, the biggest flaw remains with Venkat Prabhu’s dim-witted script copycatted from American Pie and a very weak screenplay. Strictly a big NO for Kids and Family audience. On the whole, ‘Goa’ is a Mokka Padam as it really tastes your patience to greater magnitude…Bottom - Line: A Venkat Prabhu Torture….Verdict: Its not Goa, Its Guyva

Jaggubhai Review, Jakkubai Movie Review

Banner: Raadan Media Works

Cast: Sarathkumar, Shriya Saran, Goundamani

Direction: KS. Ravikumar

Production: R.Radhika Sarathkumar

Music: Rafi

Stories on father-daughter relationship are rarely made in Tamil cinema . Filmmaker K S Ravikumar, who is known for commercial entertainers, has tried his hands at a touchy tale, however quite typical to his style . There is action, romance and sentiment in the movie which has a strong storyline too.Unlike earlier movies of Ravikumar, 'Jaggubhai ' doesn't involve a huge star cast but the artistes have a role to play in the script. Ravikumar has woven the screenplay aroundSarath Kumar and Shriya with enough scope for sentiments and emotions. The whole story is set in Australia .The movie, seemingly inspired by Japanese film 'Wasabi', does leave an impact with audience. Ravikumar has made certain changes that suit to the taste of the local audience.Jaganathan (Sarath Kumar) is a tough cop, who is known for his rude ways of handling criminals. A bachelor, Jagannathan is dreaded by baddies. One day he gets a call from Australia informing him that his girl friend (Ilavarasi), who he met last some two decades ago had died and that her last wish was that a girl child born to her and Jaganathan be taken care by him.Jaganathan sets on a trip to Australia to realise her last wish. Flashback reveals the incidents that took place 20 years ago. Jaganathan had been to the abroad country then as an under cover. He goes to the place disguised as Jaggubhai to catch a dreaded criminal (Hamid Ansari). The Australian government provides a police officer called Man In Black (Goundamani) to help Jaggubhai. One day, Jaggubhai comes across a young girl (Ilavarasi) and slowly develops an affinity with her, He comes to know that she works for the don whom he is searching for.He hatches a plan by which he decides to marry her. For the wedding cones the don. There a drama unfolds and the don manages to escape holding the girls's father as bait. Coming to know that Jaggubhai had chosen to marry her only for catching the baddie, she starts to hate him and deserts him.Come to present, Jaganathan lands in Australia and meets Man in Black. He also meets Monica (Shriya), his daughter. But hides the truth that he is her father and befriends her in the pretext of her care taker. The rest of the events are all how Jagannathan with the help of Man In Black wins over her confidence.Sarath Kumar, who had played a mass hero untill now, settles down to play a father. Shouldering a major burden, he seems to have come up trumps bringing out the emotions of a dotting dad who wants to reunite with his daughter. He vents out anger, dejection and yearning for the love of his daughter very well.Shriya, who untill now, has been seen as glamdoll in the industry, has played a spoilt brat. She is chirpy and active all through. Comedian Goundamani makes a comeback to play Sarath Kumar's friend, who helps him in his mission. He is as usual is impressive with his one-liners.The action scenes are the hallmark of the movie especially in the climax. The grand locations of Australia and the peppy background score are the USP. Produced by Radhika Sarath Kumar, Jaggubhai is no mindless masala movie, but an emotional tale which sustains interest in good parts.Jaggubhai - Papa love

Anushka says that it needs luck to become Number one

Anushka say's - luck Needs to become Number 1

Anushka became popular among the audience through the dubbed film Arundhathi. She also paired with Vijay in the recently released Vettaikaran.

Anushka while speaking to the media said,” Through Vettaikaran I came to Tamil. I have also paired with Surya. I am not worried about success and failure. After acting in a film, it is no point in breaking your head whether this film is received well or not.

I will start concentrating on my nest film and try to improve acting skills than my earlier film. My strength is my family. My weakness is to move with others. Because of this I am aloof at the shooting spots. It is my great weakness that I am not able to become friendly with cast and crew.
If you win in cinema you will be on the top otherwise they will ditch you. There should be luck to remain has number one.”

Simbhu Is Utthama Putthiran

Simbhu Is Utthama Putthiran

Now it’s time to settle down with matured gesture for Silambarasan. The young actor had experimented in his very own ways and indeed gained popularity from certain classes of audiences. But now, his decision to strike with a different dimension has yielded him better results. It can be simply exemplified with his upcoming film ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya’ that portrays him as a normal guy. He enacts the role of an assistant director falling in love with a Christian girl Jessie and is ready to sacrifice his dreams for her. His other project ‘Ko’ with K.V. Anand depicts him as a photo journalist and has a gripping storyline departing longer away from Simbhu’s usual traits. Now, his other film with director Boopathy Pandian is all set to get-go shortly within next couple of months. Produced by Lingusamy under the banner name of Tirupathi Brothers, the film has been tentatively titled as ‘Utthama Putthiran’. As of now, Lingusamy seems to be busy with pre-release tasks and will kick-start his other productions shortly after the release of ‘Paiyya’

Vikram speaks about director Bala

Vikram speaks about director Bala

Vikram who had acted in Bala’s two films said,” I am so happy that Bala has got the best director National Award for his film Naan Kadavul. I felt like that I have got the award. Bala should have got the award for his film Sethu itself.

Though it was his first film Bala did not behave like that he was a new director. He had so confidence. In the first day shooting, the scene was I was to kidnap Abita. He instructed “Walk like this” “Stand here” “Then go there fast” and “Speak like this”.

He had so confidence in his profession. During the shooting of Sethu, he use to say like a prophet,” At this scene you will get applause from the audience” and the audience will applaud for this dialogue. After the release of the film Sethu, I went to the theatre to watch this film.

Whatever scenes Bala told that the audience will applaud, it happened. After this I worked with Bala in the film Pithamaghan. He never told me the whole story when I signed the film. He said,” This is your character. You will not speak. Your friend will be murdered.
What you do is the story of this film. You will get National Award.” Only this much he spoke about Pithamaghan. A director who has confidence in his story and the method he shoots can only speak like this. Every actor has acted well in Bala’s film. It is Bala who can bring out the acting skill of an actor. This award itself is little delayed for Bala. But however this award will form the basis for other awards.”

Film is not life – Selvaraghavan

Film is not life – Selvaraghavan

Unperturbed by the initial negative reactions from many quarters director Selvaraghavan is now happy to see ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ picking up after some tweaking. Why were there so much negative voices initially? Selva says that’s because we relate film to life. Reviews are personal opinions and individual opinions cannot be construes as general opinion. All film goers like or dislike a movie depending on his personal mood and intelligence. So in that way every movie goer is a film critic.

Selva opines people should separate cinema from real life and must stop comparing real life to the art. Cinema is just an entertainment medium like radio or television. Once people start thinking that way reviews will show maturity.
